Disney+ today launched ESPN on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand, bringing blockbuster matchups, unmissable moments and more than 10,000 hours of ESPN’s live sports action to the platform.

ESPN on Disney+ is now streaming and included for all Australia and New Zealand subscribers, both Disney+ Premium and Disney+ Standard.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios – also a Boston Celtics and NBA mega fan – helms a full-scale marketing campaign across all platforms to launch ESPN on Disney+ and encourage subscribers to ‘Turn It On’.

The first seven days start with must-watch NBA action as the race to the NBA Playoffs heats up. Back-to-back Live NBA double headers tip off proceedings, headlined by superstars Stephen Curry and LeBron James. Jayson Tatum and the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics face off against the Phoenix Suns across March 26 and 27. 

The Major League Baseball season opens stateside on March 28 with the New York Yankees meeting the Milwaukee Brewers in a special presentation, to be called by iconic ESPN voice Joe Buck, before Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers return to Dodger Stadium to continue their World Series defence.

The NCAA Basketball Championship hits the ‘Sweet 16’ stage on March 28 as March Madness reaches the final stages; and Australian UFC championship contender Steven Erceg will battle former champion Brandon Moreno at UFC Fight Night live from Mexico City on March 30.

The new ESPN hub on Disney+ includes live ESPN and ESPN2 channels, fan-favourite studio shows such as SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, and First Take, along with live events and on-demand replays, and iconic original programming including ESPN’s award-winning library of 30 for 30 films.

Paw enthusiasts unite! The much-loved Cat Lovers Festival and Dog Lovers Festival are making a highly anticipated return in 2025, bringing joy, education, and entertainment across Melbourne and Sydney, before heading to Brisbane in 2026.

Featuring an incredible line-up of attractions, the festivals are set to deliver an unforgettable experience for every pet lover, whether they are lifelong dog devotees or passionate cat enthusiasts.

The festivals will provide access to a wide selection of breeds, with experts and adoption groups, with the interactive facets complemented by exclusive shopping experiences, competitions and more.

Star appearances will include Farmer Dave Graham, a festival favourite known for his engaging demonstrations, and Lara Shannon, renowned from TV’s Pooches at Play, offering expert dog training insights.

After a popular debut at the Melbourne event last year, social media sensation Jamie the Dog Trainer will be a must-see guest in both Melbourne and Sydney, while ABC TV’s Muster Dogs stars Marlene &amp; Hudson and Jack &amp; Pesto will be live on stage at select events, and Brodie Young will return as MC.

There will be high-flying antics with the Kurgo Dockdogs splashing into a 100,000 litre pool, the Pat-a-Pooch experience, with the Vitapet Door Prize giving guests the opportunity to win thousands of dollars’ worth of top gifts for their pooch.

Cat and Dog Lovers Festivals Return to Celebrate Australia’s Pet-Loving Community

A digital comic series co-designed by RMIT students, educators and violence prevention experts will challenge online disinformation and harmful narratives that particularly target young men.

The&nbsp;Adventures of Soy Boy and Friends&nbsp;follows a team of fictional characters as they navigate the challenges of university life, one algorithm and creditable source at a time.

The designs were created by&nbsp;RMIT graduate Millie&nbsp;Ovenden, from a series of engagements with male students and experts.

The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.rmit.edu.au/about/our-values/respect-rmit/gender-equity-and-justice/soy-boy" target="_blank">first edition of the comic</a>, coinciding with&nbsp;<a href="https://www.rmit.edu.au/students/student-life/events/annual/respect-week" target="_blank">Respect at Uni Week</a>, explores real students’ lived experience of the pressures that some young men feel when fake news becomes truth amongst their peers and in their classrooms.

Held in Townsville-Gurambilbarra in North Queensland from 18 July - 1 August, before and during the AFCM, the International Masterclasses program is an immersive experience for young chamber musicians, offering direct mentorship from world-class artists, chamber music training, and professional development opportunities through lessons, public and private masterclasses, and performances, while also providing industry insights from leading musicians and arts professionals.

Program highlights include individual lessons from artists including&nbsp;AFCM Artistic Director Jack Liebeck&nbsp;(violin),&nbsp;Ana-Maria Vera&nbsp;(piano) and&nbsp;Lloyd Van't Hoff&nbsp;(clarinet), group instrumental classes and coaching sessions led by AFCM artists and faculty members, interactive group discussions and review sessions in the Chamber Music Forum, professional development seminars from industry experts, individual career guidance from mentors, public Masterclass participation and a final showcase performance – the International Masterclasses Concert at the Townsville Civic Theatre. The Apple Tree&nbsp;is made up of three musical miniatures. "The Diary of Adam and Eve" is a quirky, touching spin on the tale of the world's first couple, adapted from Mark Twain's&nbsp;Extracts from Adam's Diary. "The Lady or the Tiger?" is a rock and roll fable set in a mythical barbarian kingdom, which explores the fickleness of love. "Passionella" is based on Jules Feiffer's offbeat Cinderella-story about a chimney sweep whose dreams of being a "glamorous movie star" nearly sabotage her one chance for true love.

Music Australia has announced the recipients of the Record Label Development Scheme, a groundbreaking initiative which aims to support Australian labels actively nurturing and promoting Australian talent.

The $1,732,000 investment will support 23 record labels, varying from local independents to major label Australian subsidiaries, for the creation of new professional recordings, digital content and artwork, marketing and promotional campaigns, production, manufacturing and freight, artist development and staffing.

In addition to supporting labels, the artists featured in the project activities will also receive support through a mandatory non-recoupable 10% artist creation fee. Record labels are also incentivised to manufacture using environmentally sustainable materials, guided by Green Music Australia’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.greenmusic.org.au/productstewardship" target="_blank">Sound Country: A Green Guide on Physical Music Products</a>.

Director of Music Australia Millie Millgate&nbsp;said:&nbsp;

“This direct investment into Australian record labels will see a minimum of 83 Australian acts benefit, creating a domino effect of support, that reinforces the interconnected nature of the contemporary music ecosystem.&nbsp;The role record labels play in developing their artists is significant and we need to safeguard them at a time when breaking Australian artists has never been harder.”

The Record Label Development Scheme will ensure Australian labels of all sizes, and with different genre focusses, can continue to compete effectively, support their artists, and contribute intrinsic value&nbsp;to a vibrant Australian music landscape.
