Communicative Press Release Example to Reach the Journalist

A press release is a written statement that provides concise yet detailed information about a new product, occasion, event or more. It connects companies and media or journalists in a variety of ways. Although some companies post press releases on their website for viewers to read, the journalist is the press release’s primary target audience.

Writing a communicative press release can help journalists use it as a resource, relying on it to deliver necessary information and making it simpler for them to cover a range of events. With the expansion of media channels, it has become easier to communicate with the target audience clearly and simply.  

The following elements are the most important component to write a communicative press release example to reach the journalist or media. So, make sure your press release has these elements.

1.Descriptive press release’s headline

List the place and date first in the press release’s headline. You can summarize the content of the press release in one or two sentences. It should have a descriptive sentence for the reader. The journalist begins by reading the most important material.

Here’s an example for the descriptive headline:

Singapore, Jan 23, 2023 – A reader gathering, specifically for readers of Asian literature, was conducted by the Festival of Study Room. The editor of Go-go! Publishers, a special guest in the world of literature, will attend the event.

2.Write a quote from an important figure or spokesperson

A communicative press release always quotes an important figure or spokesperson for the event or company. They are the company’s official or an event representative. However, quotes in press releases rarely reflect what the person stated. Instead, they are typically idealized statements that advance the purpose of the press release. You may use 1-2 quotes from either of them. 

Here’s an example for a quote in a press release:

“Various books of Asian literature come from different countries, including Korea, Japan, and China. This publication has received positive feedback from readers. It prompts me to look up references from other nations,” Sinyo, an editor of Go-go! remarked.

3.Mention the special guests.

Perhaps you can add something to your press release to make it more communicative. That “something” must undoubtedly occur. For example, you can write about special guests’ attendance. It can also be effective to tie your press release to the guest’s agenda.

Here’s an example for mentioning a special guest:

The festival's opening day took place in the blazing sun, with five festival stages thumping with music and the NGO area at the Academy of the Finest of Arts crowded with people eager to learn about the work of third-sector organizations like Amnesty International, Greenpeace, One Billion Rising, and many others.

4.Contact information 

Journalists who have read your press release might wish to get in touch with you in the future with questions. Write down all the necessary contact information for the spokesperson or author of a press release, including name, title, company’s name, company website, email address, and phone number, to enable them to do so.
