‘No room for complacency’: Casino Plus CEO Evan Spytma on Driving the Future of Asian Gaming

Speaking on the sidelines of a massive, high-profile gathering of 20,000 international delegates at the recently concluded SiGMA Asia Summit 2026 held at the SMX Convention Center, Spytma emphasized that complacency is the ultimate risk in today’s landscape. 

“Specifically to Asia, you always have to be on your toes. You can’t be complacent. You always have to be striving to do better, and I think that is really the number one. If you rest, you fall behind,” Spytma told Ortiz-Bolivar on June 3, 2026.

The interview came after SiGMA, a global iGaming events and media group, honored the Casino Plus CEO with a “Hall of Game” award at its recently concluded Asia edition. The award recognizes his contributions to the gaming, technology, and hospitality sectors, which helped shape the region’s digital entertainment landscape.

“It went from a destination to more of a lifestyle, and so players wanted to just be able to game whenever they could, when they wanted. They didn’t necessarily want to have to fight traffic to get to the casinos, and I think that was the start of the future of gaming,” he said.

When asked whether modern gaming platforms need to be available both online and on-site to truly succeed, Spytma’s stance was definitive: "It has to be both."

"There are major shifts in the market right now. It all started from land-based [operations], then shifted online, and now [we are seeing online operators] looking to move into land-based spaces. Everyone needs to be omnipresent. That was innovative in the market, and now we’re seeing even online slot providers [moving into physical spaces]." he added.
