How to Write an Attention-Grabbing Partnership Press Release

A strategic partnership is something to be celebrated as it combines the influences and resources of two or more companies. New growth and opportunities are on the horizon. No wonder this will grab wide attention.   

Therefore, a new solid partnership needs to be announced through an attention-grabbing press release. Apart from celebrating the new partnership, it is also a great way to expand the audience base.  

3 Types of Partnership Press Release 

Before writing a partnership press release, you need to understand the type of partnership you have. Yes, although a partnership press release is one of many types of press release, this type of press release has a few types, such as 

Collaboration: two or more companies join forces for a one-off campaign. 

Merger: two or more companies agree to combine resources as a new entity to increase market share. 

Acquisition: similar to a merger, but where one company agrees to take over the others. 

What is a Press Release? 

A press release is a public relations (PR) tool used to announce any newsworthy company action. It aims to gain wider exposure, contact with the media and ultimately, a wider potential customer base. 

No matter what type of press release you are writing, you need to base it on press release basics, such as:  

Include an attractive and compelling headline of no more than 80 characters. 

Answer the 5Ws (who, what, where, when and why) in the first and second paragraphs. 

Tell the detailed story in the following paragraphs. 

Include a short but clear boilerplate (about us). 

Include the contact details of the press release PIC (usually the PR specialist). 

Write in the third person. 

Use 400-600 words.  

Consider your target audience and media outlet(s) to use the perfect tone of voice. 

How to Write a Partnership Press Release?  

Beyond these basics, to write a specific, attention-grabbing partnership press release, you need to follow these instructions: 

1. The Headline

As well as an attractive and compelling headline, you need to include the names of all the companies involved in the partnership. 

Putting the larger company at the top of the headline will increase the chances of this release getting more attention from the media and the target audience. If all the companies are small, put the company that created the product or initiated the partnership first. 

Example: Excol Industry partners with THSurvey to develop carbon ecosystems.   

2. The First Paragraph

The first paragraph must briefly inform the audience about the partnership. So tell the story of what the partnership does.   

Example: 

In order to develop the carbon ecosystem, THSurvey has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Excol Industry to collaborate in market expansion and development of operational activities in the field of renewable energy, especially in terms of decarbonisation. 

3. The Second Paragraph 

Write more detailed information about this partnership in the second paragraph. If you have answered the 'what' and 'who' in the first paragraph, answer the 'why', 'where' and 'when' in the second paragraph. 

Example: 

Excol Industry aims to be a pioneer in green economy and sustainability initiatives in Thailand. The partnership was signed on 11 June 2023 at Excol Industry Office, 555 Phay Thai Rd, Bangkok, 10330, Thailand.    

4. Show the Impact on the Industry 

Summarise the impact of this partnership on the industry to help the public understand how important this partnership is. This will also help the media outlet(s) who may be changing beats all the time. A health journalist may be moved to cover manufacturing tomorrow. 

If this happens when you send your press release about the manufacturing partnership, you will help the journalist understand the importance of this partnership. This will allow the journalist to edit and publish your release in the right way. 

Example: 

This year, the goal of implementing the Economic Value of Carbon (NEK) through carbon trading has been further expanded with the establishment of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) ratings and performance in sustainable business.

According to Natalie Shat, CEO of Excol Industry, decarbonisation and ESG go hand in hand, with the original view being that both take time and money, but do not directly add value.

Both Excol Industry and THSurvey hope to strengthen their position as strategic partners and increase the presence of SOEs along the decarbonisation and ESG value chain. 

5. Include a Quote 

Next, include a quote from the CEO(s) of the companies involved to emphasise the key message.

Example: 

"Marketing to shared services can be a potential option for a partnership program given the market trend that is increasingly concerned with sustainability issues," Natalie explained. 

A partnership press release aims to attract the attention of the media, potential customers and potential investors. Once you have written an attention-grabbing partnership press release, send it to a press release distributor who can distribute it to the right media outlet(s).
